Welcome to the United Benefice of St Mary's, Henlow, and St Andrew's, Langford, a benefice of two Anglican Churches situated in East Bedfordshire in the Diocese of St Albans.
Henlow and Langford are two ancient villages located just to the south of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire, alongside the quietly flowing River Ivel. Both villages have a history as farming and, more recently, market gardening communities, although today they are largely commuter villages for London, Stevenage, Bedford and other towns in the surrounding area.
The two parishes, which are Crown appointments, were brought together by Royal Assent in 1997 and each has its own dedicated section on this site — St Mary's, Henlow | St Andrew's, Langford — alongside shared Contact, Diary and Weekly Notices pages. Each church also has its own facebook page: if you're on facebook, please stop by, hit the 'Like' button and leave us a message — St Mary's | St Andrew's. You can also leave comments here via your facebook account.
The churchyards in both parishes are always open; the churches themselves are open for Sunday services and at various other times: please see the parish pages for details, and see below for links to maps showing where we are. We look forward to meeting you.
Following the departure of the Revd Canon Sue Groom, who was our Priest in Charge until Sunday 31st January 2016, we are awaiting a new appointment. Sue took up a new role as Archdeacon of Wilts in February: Welcome to Wilts, Archdeacon. During the vacancy we are grateful to various members of clergy and other volunteers who have kindly agreed to stand in until her successor is appointed. All enquiries should be addressed to the Churchwardens: please see our Contact Us page or the Weekly Notices for more details.
